History
Upon learning of other townships and boroughs in the Philadelphia suburbs that were adopting nondiscrimination ordinances, Whitemarsh Township Supervisor Leslie Richards made a mission of bringing an ordinance up to her township. Following six months of advocacy and drafting the ordinance, the Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the ordinance with a 5 – 0 vote in favor.
In 2012, Supervisor Leslie Richards was elected as a Montgomery County Commissioner. In her campaign for County Commissioner, she advocated for the passage of a Montgomery County nondiscrimination law.
